Hello world, it's
Flair Wu.
Over the years working on many awesome projects, I had the opportunities to explore my creativity and
really refine my skills as a developer and artist. Here I just want to share a few of the things I
learnt,
first is that my understanding of a quote from Lella and Massimo Vignelli “Design is one”, the
conscientiousness that drives me to refine every little detail on an illustration is no different than
the one for me to
write well-structured code, isn’t the principles which I apply to a web design project the same I use in
the
studio? Once someone truly understands the roots of creating something that brings simple appreciation
of a job well done, you realize the only difference between a web build and an oil painting is the tools
in
which you hold in your hands. On the other hand, while design is one, artists and the art sometimes
should stay
at a distance. In short, as the artist I keep to myself the enjoyment of every keystroke, every
paintbrush
and every draft ends up in the trash; while you as the client, all you need is the art of a work well
done,
with a bit of flair.
My Works
GIFT
Guatemala’s initiative for Tomorrow is a little project I am working on with one of my dear friends
as the co-founder and web developer and designer. While my friend worked on developing an amazing
project to help underprivileged communities in Guatemala, I used my skill set in art and design to
develop a brand identity package. Since I am the only person in charge of the site I decided to go
with an old-fashioned Html, CSS site where I have more control with exactly how I want everything to
look.
Double A Engraving
The owner of Double A Engraving Mr. Anderson is a retired teacher who picked up his passion for
laser
engraving. Like many small business owners, aside from a great business and lots of passion for the
craft, there wasn’t much to work with. As the designer of the group, I was able to build a stunning
website to showcase his work and put Double A on the digital map in Edmonton.
NeuroAlbertaTech & natHacks
NAT is a neurotech startup which is currently one of the biggest in Edmonton that has hosted many
incredible events to help create Edmonton’s own NeuroTech hub, one of them being natHacks, which is
the biggest neurotech event in Alberta. As part of the team, I mainly was in charge of outreach and
advertisement, but with my skill set in web development, I also left my mark on the stunning website
that hosted the event.
